Crack test

Non-destructive material testing

With the RED-WHITE-METHOD, surface defects can be quickly detected. Prerequisite is that the defects are open towards the surface. It is used in the inspection of weld seams, castings, in shipbuilding, automotive and aircraft construction, apparatus and container construction, and many other applications.

Dye penetrant inspection - Step 1

Clean parts thoroughly from grease, oil or other impurities with CLEANER (Art.-No.: 56021) and dry. The defects must be open towards the surface. Apply DYE PENETRANT SPRAY (Art.-No.: 56020) to the surface and leave on for 5 - 10 minutes.

Dye penetrant inspection - Step 2

Remove excess dye penetrant spray from the surface, either rinse with water or use a cloth slightly moistened with CLEANER (Art. No.: 56021). Then dry the surface.

Dye penetrant inspection - Step 3

Spray the DEVELOPER (Art.-No.: 56022) very thinly from a distance of approx. 20 cm. Too much developer can hide fine cracks! Cracks are visible as red lines. After 5 - 10 minutes carry out the final evaluation
